Gorgeous and talented, Yelena Isinbaeva, improved the pole vault world record twenty-eight times and she is still the record holder with her 5,06 m indoor.

She was named 3 times Female Athlete of the Year by the IAAF and she was World Sportswoman of the Year twice.

She trained as a gymnast when she was a child, but she was considered too tall for gymnastic and when she was 15 she took up pole-vaulting.

She comes from an humble family which supported her in studying and sport. She is Captain in the Russian Army and in 2011 she received  the Medal of the Order “For Merit to the Fatherland”.

After being elected an IOC member in 2016, she announced her retirement from athletics.

Then she became the chair of the supervisory board of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency.
